Children and Family Ministry
The Children and Family Ministry is the primary planning and organizing team for everything Children and Families at Second Presbyterian. This group works to create a welcoming learning environment for the children of the church and is responsible for Church School, Vacation Bible School and opportunities for children to participate in Christian Education at our Church, as well as opportunities for parents, guardians, and the whole family. Preschool Church School Teacher
Serve as part of a three-member teaching team for a 2-year-old, 3-year-old, 4-year-old, or kindergarten Sunday School class from September through May. Curriculum materials and training are provided. Please select C00 on your Time & Talents Covenant.
Elementary Teacher in Bible Village
Serve as a classroom leader, using provided curriculum to lead crafts, lessons, and games that teach Bible stories and Christian ideas to 1st-5th grade age range kids. Teachers don’t need to sign up for full semesters, but instead can sign up for weeks that best fit their schedules. Please select C01 on your Time & Talents Covenant.
Bible Village Shepherd
Serve as a classroom helper for our Sunday School classes. Shepherds, unlike teachers, don’t directly lead activities, but instead mentor, supervise, and play with the kids in our Sunday School Classes. No experience is required, and this is often a great, loss-stress way to get to know our Sunday School programs and meet our wonderful volunteers and staff! Shepherds don’t need to sign up for full semesters, but instead can sign up for weeks that best fit their schedules. Please select C02 on your Time & Talents Covenant.
Hanging of the Greens Crafts
Children of the church make crafts and ornaments to decorate trees around the church during the annual Hanging of the Greens in December. If you’re interested in helping with activities for preschool and elementary students, please select C03 on your Time & Talents Covenant.
Vacation Bible School
Team members will help plan and lead this summer program of Bible stories, art, mission, music and recreation. Opportunities include serving on the planning committee, helping with mission activities, acting as a storyteller, teaching, leading art activities, leading recreation, serving as an age-level shepherd, providing snacks for teachers and helping decorate and set up. SPY Kids
This program of fellowship, service and education for 4th and 5th graders meets once a month. Opportunities are available to help plan activities and serve as chaperones. Please select C20 or C21 on your Time & Talents Covenant.
