Ministry

The Youth Ministry meets at 7:00 p.m. on the first Tuesday of every month and is made up of youth and adults who work in partnership to develop and implement a balanced youth program in the areas of worship, service, study, fellowship, and mission for youth in Middle School (6th-8th grades), High School (9th-12th grades) and college. Teach Middle School Sunday School

Team teach sixth and seventh graders so that you can partner together. A Middle School Sunday School Teacher requires patience and skills in redirection. Middle School is a time for bouncing energy and loads of laughter, but they have hearts of gold. Curriculum is provided. Please select Z00 on your Time & Talents Covenant.

Teach High School Sunday School

Team teach ninth through twelfth graders so that you can partner together. In this spring Eighth graders will join after Confirmation Sunday to begin their transition into High School. A High School Sunday School teacher requires depth and creativity. High Schoolers year for maturity and freedom, while also needing new innovating ways to explore their faith. Curriculum is provided. Serve as a Confirmation Mentor

In partnership, Confirmands and mentors build a bond upon their foundation of faith development to strengthen the year-long experience of Confirmation. Mentors are asked to participate in events throughout the year such as, retreats, mission projects, various Sunday morning classes, site visits, and more. Mentors are required to be comfortable in taking the initiative for the special relationship they build with their Confirmand. Please select Z03 on your Time & Talents Covenant.

Serve as a Youth Advisor

Advisors assist the Youth Director by facilitating break out sessions during Youth Group on Sunday evenings or other grade specific small group gatherings. We ask our advisors to be open and compassionate to all youth on their journey of discovery and faith. Advisors can be young adults in the church, parents or other caring adults. Advisors also help with other events such as lock-ins and retreats. While it is necessary to attend most events, there is no expectation to attend it all. Meals for Sunday Night Fellowship

Volunteers are needed to make and serve meals at Youth Group on Sunday evenings. Please expect a size of about 30 participants. Please select Z05 on your Time & Talents Covenant.

Coach a Basketball Team

Our church basketball leagues run from January through mid-March. We are looking for people who are willing to coach both male and female teams. Games are usually held twice a week. If there is any interest from our church youth we will participate in the league. Please select Z06 on your Time & Talents Covenant.

Chaperone Trips or Special Events

Volunteers will be contacted with dates for trips throughout the year. Possible trips include weekend Presbytery retreats, ski trips, Montreat Youth Conference, mission trips, and fall or spring retreats. Please select Z07 on your Time & Talents Covenant.

Mission Trips

Volunteers are needed to help plan meaningful outreach opportunities for Middle School & High School youth during the summer. Volunteers are also needed to help chaperone this week-long activity in mid-August. Please select Z08 on your Time & Talents Covenant.

Host a Party or Event

Homes are needed for pool parties, progressive dinners and other small group events. If you are able to open your home and serve as host for a youth event, please select Z09 on your Time & Talents Covenant.

Halloween Carnival

The Carnival, which is usually held the Sunday evening before Halloween, is for the enjoyment of children. Youth do much of the planning and implementation, but adult help is needed in the planning process and during the Carnival itself. Please select Z10 on your Time & Talents Covenant.

Transportation

Occasionally, the youth participate in activities offsite, and a number of adult drivers are needed to transport them. Drivers would be called on several times a year to pick youth up and transport them. Please select Z12 on your Time & Talents Covenant.

Help Plan the Youth Scholarship Fundraiser

The Youth Scholarship Fund assures that all youth are able to participate in youth trips and activities regardless of their financial situation. Help plan these occasional fundraisers to replenish this fund. Please select Z13 on your Youth Time & Talents Covenant.
