Fellowship

The Fellowship Ministry meets at 6:00 p.m. on the second Tuesday evening of each month. Volunteers and officers who serve on this ministry seek to provide fellowship opportunities for fun and fellowship to strengthen the corporate life of the church. Ministry members plan creative and fun activities for members to get to know one another. This ministry strives to bring activities to the church that appeal to all ages and interests and extend the joy and spirit of our church life to friends and others throughout the community. Ministry members are present at most activities to help set up and clean up. The ministry often joins with other church ministries in planning and carrying out large church events.

Some of the events sponsored by the Fellowship Ministry include Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper, Easter Egg Hunt, Easter Brunch, Summer Social Breakfasts, Church Picnic at Ferncliff, Halloween Carnival and Hanging of the Greens.

Volunteers are contacted in advance to help decorate tables and rooms for specific events sponsored by the Fellowship Ministry. A member of the ministry is on-site to help and provide direction to the volunteers. Decoration and set up usually takes about an hour for each event. Volunteers are contacted in advance to help set up and clean up for specific events sponsored by the Fellowship Ministry. Members of the ministry are present to direct the volunteers. Set up and clean up for each event usually takes about half an hour before and after the event. This may include dish-washing as a measure of tending environmental stewardship. Along with members of the Fellowship Ministry, help in the kitchen by cooking for such events as the Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper or Hanging of the Greens Dinner. Please select F04 on your Time & Talents Covenant.

Volunteers meet with members of the Fellowship Ministry to plan and carry out the annual Church Picnic, which is held on a Sunday afternoon in the Fall at Ferncliff Camp and Conference Center. The planning team usually meets for about an hour early in the fall. Activities include a meal, games, music, fishing and blowing bubbles. Planning volunteers may also help with the picnic, which usually lasts about three hours. Please select F05 on your Time & Talents Covenant.

Join a group of adults of all ages who gather in the Great Hall each Monday night at 7:00 p.m. to play volleyball. This group has been playing for 35 years and welcomes new players for both recreation and fellowship. Please select F06 on your Time & Talents Covenant.

Volunteers are contacted in advance to cook or provide food for church events. You might be asked to bring cookies or other desserts, salads or sides for different gatherings held at the church. Please select F07 on your Time & Talents Covenant.

A few times a year the fellowship ministry offers a one-time special event, day trip or overnight excursion. Do you have a great idea for a special event or trip? Volunteers work with members of the ministry and staff to plan events on a one-time basis and accompany the group at the time of the event. Please select F08 on your Time & Talents Covenant.

Volunteers will be contacted in advance about taking pictures at a particular event so that we can capture the fun of Hanging of the Greens, Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper and other activities. Photos will be used for the website, newsletter, bulletin board and possibly other publicity. Please select F09 on your Time & Talents Covenant.

Volunteers plan for large fellowship events such as the Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper, Easter Brunch, Officer Appreciation Dinner, Summer Social Breakfast, Halloween Carnival and Hanging of the Greens.
